During the Christmas season, Amalfi transforms into one of the most enchanting places on the Amalfi Coast. From early December until the arrival of the New Year, the town comes alive with sparkling lights, traditional music, cultural events and festive activities for visitors of all ages. The combination of history, atmosphere and seaside charm makes Amalfi an unforgettable destination during the holidays.
The historic centre shines with elegant decorations, illuminated alleys and Christmas installations that turn the town into an open-air postcard. Squares and waterfront areas host craft markets, food stands, musical performances and children’s activities, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere throughout the festive period. Traditional elements such as folk groups, zampognari (bagpipers) and cultural initiatives enrich the experience and connect visitors with the authentic soul of local Christmas celebrations.
The highlight of the season is the New Year’s Eve in Amalfi, one of the most anticipated events on the entire coast. On 31 December, the town becomes an open-air stage with concerts, DJ sets, live entertainment and a festive atmosphere that fills the squares until late at night. At midnight, the fireworks over the sea create a breathtaking moment as colours and reflections dance across the water — a truly unforgettable way to welcome the New Year.
The celebrations continue into the first days of January with more concerts, family events, cultural activities and performances for children, keeping the festive atmosphere alive all the way to Epiphany.
